  • Personal Bible Reading: Novi UMC encourages personal Bible reading and study by providing resources such as commentaries, study guides, or access to online Bible reading apps.

  • Bible Q&A: Novi UMV Provides small groups or Bible study sessions where members gather to read, share, and discuss biblical and theological insights from the passages in the Bible.

NEXT GENERATION

  • Biblical Learning: Focus on the teachings of Jesus about love, justice, and mission, emphasizing the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Develop a curriculum that integrates biblical teaching with cultural studies, and practical applications.

  • Cultural Learning: Include lessons on different cultures, religions, and worldviews. Highlight the importance of understanding and respecting cultural differences.

  • Language Learning: Offer classes in languages spoken by significant global populations (e.g., Spanish, Korean) to help young people communicate cross-culturally.

  • Experiential Learning: Organize service projects that address global issues, encouraging young people to think and act globally. Organize short-term mission trips to expose young people to different cultures and global Christian work.

DEVELOPING GLOBAL LEADERSHIP

Developing global leadership within a church context involves preparing individuals to lead with a global perspective, fostering cross-cultural understanding, and equipping them with the skills needed to navigate and influence an interconnected world.

Four strategies for cultivating global leadership:

  • Understanding God’s Global plans: Emphasize God's desire for all nations to come to know Him, integrating this into the church’s vision and mission.

  • Leadership Development: Offer training to enhance cultural intelligence (CQ) and sensitivity, helping young generation understand and appreciate cultural diversity. Provide training in leadership skills that emphasize global awareness and cultural sensitivity.

  • Educational Training: Create programs specifically designed to develop leadership skills with global issues, cross-cultural communication, and international relations. Establish partnerships with churches and organizations in other countries to foster exchange programs and collaborative projects.

  • Cultural Immersion: Facilitate cultural immersion experiences locally, such as visiting ethnic communities or attending cultural festivals.
